The Kingsmere Guest House is large Victorian house of character close to the town the centre of South Shields. The beautiful South Shields North Marine Park lies at one end of Urfa Terrace, where our guest house is located, and beyond the park lies Little Haven beach. South Shields centre is a five minute walk in the other direction.
The Guest House, Bed & Breakfast, is located off Ocean Road, which means you have ready access to the shops restaurants and bars of South Shields, yet the hotel has a comfortable tranquillity, being set back away from the main road.

Urfa Terrace – South Shields Celtic & Roman History

The first recorded inhabitants of South Shields were from a Celtic tribe called the Brigantes. They founded a settlement called Caer Urfa ("The Town on the Rock") from which our Terrace takes its name.

The Romans arrived in South Shields in AD80 and built a fort to supply Hadrian's Wall. You can visit the wonderfully renovated fort around the corner from the Guest House.

If you would like to sail across the Tyne from South Shields, the ferry landing stage is a short walk away from the guest house. The North Shields cod are well famed for their quality and size….!
